Photo 1 of Max
Name: Max
Breed: Chocolate Lab
Weight: 96lbs
Home: Boulder Colorado
Best Friend: Marcie Miller
Hobbies: Hiking, rock climbing, swimming,
chasing ball (or whatever), growling at other dogs when he really
just wants to be friends, licking and howling at police cars.
Max is a 6 year old Chocolate Lab that was born
in Rochester New York. I met the breeder in a park where she told
me that her landlord was going to kick her out if she didn't get
rid of the puppies. I bought Max for $20.00 that night. He was
the largest of the litter and was always out in front.
He came home to another Lab (a black) that is
three years older than him. They have always been best friends
although very much like brothers. One time I was throwing a large
log for the dogs and Max ran under my arm from behind when I was
throwing it underhand and it hit him in the head. (I have to say
I am very careful with the dogs, it was a fluke) It knocked him
out. I took him to the emergency vet where he woke up in about
ten minutes. He has seemed happier since, nothing ever bothers
Max!
Max will never leave the yard. We always be sure
that there is a fence so the dogs have a large yard to play in.
On the inevitable times that the other dog has found a way out,
Max was always sitting in the yard waiting for me, and to tell on
his brother I think. Max loves to swim! Here he is showing off
his diving skills in our pool!
Max with his brother
Max is tattooed with a very long number. Before
I heard about the APA's program, I had tattooed him with a 7
digit number. Then I had the APA letters added so he could be
properly registered. His thigh looks like an owners manual! But
we know for sure it will be seen if he ever is lost! His brother
was lost once and recovered by the APA, but Max is just a
homebody.
I just wish you could meet Max. He is truly my
best friend. If you would like to write me about Max or your dog
or cat, just go to the feedback form
and APA will forward the message to me!
