The APA has established a program to test pet products for safety, usefulness and cost. Products are tested by APA associated veterinary facilities, humane agencies, select staff members and volunteer APA members.

 

The APA does not sell retail pet products or endorse pet product companies, nor do we accept donations from corporations.  Some "humane organizations" sell their approval logos.  You basically pay a fee and they issue you an approval.  We feel that is unethical and not fair to consumers. 

All products submitted to the APA for approval are reviewed in an independent, un-biased manner with the best interests of the pet and the pet owner in mind. Any product that does not meet the APA's highest standards, is rejected.

Product testing is conducted at the APA facilities, the homes of employees, associated veterinary facilities, associated humane facilities and by APA Members (randomly chosen).  Testing can take from one month to one year, depending on the testing needs.

So look for the APA approved seal, and buy with confidence.
