PET OF THE WEEK

Ishi is one and a half year old pure bred akita. She weighs 70lbs, though she still has about 30 lbs to gain. I got her from a farm in ohio under uncertain circumstances, and after showing signs of abuse, she has come full circle to become a very loving dog. She keeps me company at the college of william and mary in williamsburg, virginia where she shares the apartment with a twelve year old black lab, Loki.

When she visits her grandfather in northern virginia she gets to go to the beauty parlor (which she had just returned from when this picture was taken) along with my family's other pets; skaffie (5 year old pembroke welsh corgi), bounty (1.5 year old pem. welsh corgi), angus (4 month old rescue australian shep mix), and smudge (3 year old chocolate lab). she also likes to torment the family's two cats, fresca (5 year old grey tabby) and vincent (5 year old orange tabby) who were both rescue cats. Ishi was raised by smudge, the chocolate lab, and exhibits many lab traits, but always with an akita attitude (she will retrieve, but on her own terms and in her own time) :). She is an extraordinary akita in that she gets along with all our family's animals and all her friends at our apartment complex (2 labs, pug, akita/lab mix), not to mention that she is extremely affectionate with everyone and always has to be where people are.
