The American Pet Association is involved in many areas of the pet industry. This involvement is constantly increasing as needs are identified and funding becomes available. Some of our current programs include:

Member Services Online - Activate your membership, make changes to your membership file, renew or upgrade your membership, become a new member, or report a lost, stole or found pet.

Humane Donation Services - This APA program is broken down into two areas. 1) CND (Current Need Donation) is available to humane facilities that request funds to address current needs and do not have time for fund raising projects. Funding is limited. 2) FND (Future Need Donation) makes current APA membership programs available as significant fund raisers. 100% of the programs cost is donated to these facilities. Funding through this program can be unlimited and also requires no pay back, commissions, or costs. Unlike fundraising programs whose true goal is to sell their product, this is a true donation program.

Pet Selection Assistance - New pet owners can get off to a great start with their new pet with help from the APA. APA offers information about choosing a pet from a humane facility vs. a breeder, breed club referral, our 5 step puppy plan and a pet vet log. The APA realizes that bad pet selection often leads to unhappy owners and abused animals and therefor provides this valuable information at no charge.

Breeder Referral - Sometimes choosing a pure bred pet is the best choice for a new pet owner. When this is the case, finding a reputable breeder can be the most important step in successful pet ownership. When looking for specific traits in a breed, the national breed club is very often the best place to turn for information. The APA provides breed club listings at no charge. A listing of breeders of a specific breed can be researched for you for a small processing charge. APA members can have a breeder approved at no charge.

Vet Finder - A new service from the APA that is in the process of coming online. Here you will be able to find a reputable veterinarian in your area. Many vets will have a full web page attached to their listing so you can learn a little about them before you visit their facility.  Follow directions for a sample APA Approved Facility page. Go here for information about the Approval Process. Veterinarians can find participation information here.

Media Services - Promoting responsible pet ownership is always our most important goal. The APA provides research and statistics for the media to help spread the responsible pet owning message.

Guardian Collar Tag Program - A collar tag that can save your pets life! This unique stainless steel collar tag is imprinted with a pets individual ID number and the APA's 24 hour toll free lost pet hotline number. Multiple contacts are kept on file including your day and evening phone numbers as well as additional contacts. Your information is always kept confidential. In the event that you can not be contacted, the APA can make emergency medical, boarding or transportation arrangements for your pet. If your pet is lost, our lost pet package includes custom lost pet posters and valuable recovery advice. There is no better collar tag protection for your pet!

Guardian VIP - The best protection available against theft and permanent loss. This unique program includes permanent ID applied only by a veterinarian and our exclusive active recovery program. Our recovery rate of lost and stolen pets has stayed between 96 and 98% since 1991. Program includes many membership benefits. Details are too extensive to list on this page.

New Pet Pack - A great package for new pet owners. This package includes pet selection assistance, breeder referral, 5 Step Puppy or Kitten Plan, Pet Vet Log, plus the Guardian Collar Tag - All for under $6.00!
