Being an APA Business has significant advantages for you. The average consumer has trouble selecting a new pet business as there is no one widely recognized walker or sitter authority (trade organizations and "groups" have their value, but they do not service consumers, so consumers do not recognize them). The APA is well recognized by pet owners and as a non biased source, and our recommendations are the most reliable in the industry.

In today's business world you can not afford to be anything but the best. Even if you are busy now, we are seeing economic changes faster than ever and there is no guarantee for tomorrow.

The two major benefits to this program are:

  1. Use of the APA Approved logo to increase effectiveness of all advertising including your front door.

  2. The APA Feedback System allows an honest consumer evaluation of your business. This is the most critical business tool you can have. 

ACTUAL EXAMPLES OF CONSUMER FEEDBACK:

  • The business had a bad odor that the owner could not smell.
  • The receptionist was terrible to customers when the owner was not there.
  • The groomer was too rough with the pets. In fact she was not, but it seemed that way to customers, so the groomer changed her behavior.
  • The competition offered free treats. This was a seemingly small issue that the owner lost business to.

  2. An average newly APA Approved business increases income 9-18% the first year. Some businesses have reported greater than 40% increase (not typical).

If you are interested in having your Business approved there are four steps to the program.

Initial Review

As basic guidelines, you business should be;

  1. Professional and reliable

  2. Offer high levels of customer service and maintain above average standards

  3. Have no legal issues, nor code, environmental or humane violations.

Fees:

We work very hard to keep our fees low to make sure everyone can become approved. We are now offering an option to split your fee up into monthly payments.

APA Pet Sitter/Walker Approval

APA 5 Star Approval
Facility (multiple employees)       $489.00 or 12 payments of $45.75
Individual (one owner/operator)   $389.00 or 12 payments of $37.41

A processing fee of $5 is added per payment.

Fee for multiple locations or businesses can vary and will be quoted after submitting the form below. (It is generally $50-$100 per extra service)

Annual renewal is only 50% of initial fee

Business and facility approval

You must provide photos of all work spaces, containment areas for pets and exterior of your building or vehicles. Photos must be typical of daily work environment.

You must have current business licenses and appropriate insurance, if applicable. Any business less than one year old can only receive a probationary approval.

Reference or background check

The APA has a innovative reference checking procedure that helps to eliminate fraudulent information. You should be prepared to provide references.

Approval Report

A report is issued as proof of approval. When an approval is issued, camera ready approved logo artwork is issued along with guidelines for its use and the product or business will be featured at our web site. If you do not pass approval*, and the required improvements are made, you may enter the approval process a second time at no charge.

*The free Initial Review eliminates 99% of the facilities that would not be approved.

In addition, you facility will receive an Approval Plaque, Approval Stickers, Approval Art Work, Feedback Cards and an "Approved" status at our web site.
